Other positive considerations for Tatweer eligibility are SMEs that:

Are women owned/managed, or offer high
potential for women’s employment

Have potential to increase their
long-term employment

Have potential to expand their market
share domestically

Are willing to, or capable of,
increasing competitiveness, productivity, and/or market outreach
-
Are using, or progressively developing,
more sophisticated technology
-
Have the ability to add value to
natural resources
SMEs will normally not be eligible for
Tatweer assistance under the following conditions:
-
Unwilling/unable to contribute to cost
sharing activities
-
Engaged in offering products or
services under USAID prohibitions (e.g., tobacco or alcohol)
-
Operating in a manner that violates
internationally recognized workers’ rights
-
Subject to bankruptcy proceedings
-
Owned or managed by governmental or
semi-governmental organizations
-
Conducting business with trade
embargoed countries
-
Trading establishments (retail stores
and distributors)**
