With USAID sponsorship, Tatweer initiates highly focused assistance and supports programs to enable Jordanian private sector companies to increase their competitiveness in the global economy. These initiatives are designed to:

• Increase domestic sales and economic development by SMEs through improved quality, management systems, technology, and human resources.

• Increase domestic employment and improve retention of jobs for Jordanians in private enterprises. Create job opportunities for fresh university graduates through the Maharat Internship Program.

• Improve quality performance standards among Jordanian firms, and achieve sustainable institutional capabilities in quality enhancement programs with effective international industrial standards.

• Increase effectiveness and sustainability of business support organizations (BSOs) that facilitate international trade and business linkages over the long term.

• Enhance US-Jordan business linkages through bilateral trade, alliances, and market access that can mutually benefit both nations.

• Increase export sales by Jordanian private sector firms to the US, and support the Free Trade Agreement between the United States and Jordan.

• Expand Jordanian enterprises’ regional and other international trade activities, boost exports to international markets other than the US, and maximize benefits of other trade agreements signed by Jordan.

• Engage university faculty, research units and students to benefit enterprises and link universities to the world of business.

• Pursue transfer of technology from the US and elsewhere, focusing on US intellectual resources and procurement opportunities that enhance industrial capabilities among Jordanian industrial enterprises.
