Tatweer now offers two internship program formats, both targeting young
Jordanians within a year of graduation:
-
Maharat On-the-Job offers SMEs
an opportunity to hire new graduates while sharing the costs and
responsibilities with Tatweer’s experienced program staff. The program
engages the interns in a rigorous six-month program, during which an
intern is assigned to work with an SME client and receives 82 hours of
formal training delivered mainly in English by volunteer business
experts or consultant trainers. Training introduces key areas of
business, technical, teambuilding and community service skills. The
interns commit to a typical full-time work week, and receive a stipend
paid equally by Tatweer and the hosting SME.
-
Marahat Pioneers aims at
developing competence in a certain skill, providing the interns with two
months of intense, highly focused training in one of several specialized
areas such as human resources management, customer relations or export
management, known to be in high demand among Jordanian enterprises. At
the end of the training period, Tatweer staff assist interns with
referrals for job placement at SMEs and other potential employers within
its extensive network. Placements are subject to a flat fee of JD 200 to
be paid by the company to Tatweer upon recruiting the pioneer intern.
These programs help foster employment,
build human capacity and ultimately enhance the competitiveness of both SMEs
and Jordanian graduates.
Participation is open to all qualifying SMEs, as well as trading
establishments. Interns are recruited through road shows and existing youth
programs on Jordanian campuses, but candidates may also apply directly to
Tatweer:
